Sandwatch in Cameroon

February 2014: Our second activity - “Celebrating Environmental Protection by Planting Trees with Children ahead of the World Environment Day 2014 and in the context of the National Youth Day 2014 in Cameroon”

Ahead of the World Environment Day 2014 to be celebrated on 5 June, and in the context of the National Youth Day in Cameroon, the youth-led NGO Vital Actions for Sustainable Development (AVD) has organised a trees planting campaign called ‘’Plant-for-the-Planet’’. Around 100 students from the North region of Cameroon including children and youth aged from 10 to 25, years have joined the activity that was held in the city of Garoua and was organized by AVD with support from the regional representations of the Ministry of Basic Education; the Ministry of Secondary Education, and the Ministry of Environment, Nature Protection and Sustainable Development. The Governor of the North region, Mr Joseph Otto Wilson, has shown his full support to the campaign and to its organisers. The French Alliance in Cameroon, Garoua representation as well as local media also reported on the activity while local authorities included the campaign as part of the regional programme of environmental protection and sustainable development.

Cher Sandwatcher bonjour à tous,
J'ai le réel plaisir de partager avec vous quelques image (pièce jointe) du lancement du projet Sandwatch au Cameroun après la session de Praia (Cabo Verde): "Notre voix pour les plage de Kribi"
Ces activités se sont déroulées à Kribi, région du Sud Cameroun, département de l'Océan du 23 au 25 janvier 2014.
 
Au programme:
- Présentation du projet Sandwatch, session de formation des jeunes et enfants;
- Deux causeries éducatives avec les habitants du village et autres participants et volontaires;
- Caravane d'information collective sur les méthodes Sandwatch et groupée de collecte des déchets le long des plages identifiées a l’avance;
- Séance collective de tri des déchets ramassés et description des processus de pollution et de mouvement des eaux aux participants pour une meilleure prévention des cotes;
- Cérémonie  de clôture de la campagne, suivie de la remise de certificats de participation et des diplômes d’honneur.

Dear Sandwatchers, hello all,
I have the pleasure to share with you some picture of the launch of Sandwatch in Cameroon after the session Praia (Cabo Verde ) : "Our voice for Kribi beach "
These activities were held in Kribi , Cameroon South Region , Department of Ocean 23 to 25 January 2014.
 
The program:
- Presentation of Sandwatch , training session for youth and children ;
- Two educational talks with the villagers and other participants and volunteers ;
- Caravan collective information on the methods and group Sandwatch waste collection along the beaches identified in advance ;
- Collective Session sorting waste collected and description of process pollution and water movement participants for Prevention dimensions;
- Closing ceremony of the year, followed by the presentation of certificates of participation and honorary degrees.

November 18th-24th, 2013, Mr. Masango Sone, Executive Director of Green Cameroon Environmental Protection attened UNESCO`s "Climate Change Education Inside and Outside of the Classroom" workshop held in Praia in the Cape Verde Islands.  Representatives from more than twelve (12) African nations attended the workshop were given an introduction to Sandwatch's MAST protocols (Measure, Analyze, Share Findings, Take Action) including a trip to Quebra Canela Beach to learn how Sandwatch surveys and lessons are conducted.
